Break the glass

This sculpture comes directly from the video entitled
Young ARTIST
filmed in 1997. The artwork presents a glass window whose frame reminds that of a painting. Attached to the walls it displays on a hanging hanger, the back view of a worker's blue shirt on which we can read the inscription "ARTIST". Under the frame of the window, the artist has installed a batter left at the viewer's disposal. This sculpture symbolically invites the viewer to break the glass using the batter, in order to grab the artist's work garment.
Break the glass
refers to the safety's devices used for emergencies in buildings or transports. The artist associates here the idea of creation with the imperative to act.
