Banker’s Confessional

Banker’s confessional
is an installation realized in situ for a one of the oldest vaults in France. The sculpture represents a banking cashier’s desk exhibiting a compound of four compartments and four custom-made showcases. Each of these display cases is covered with mirrors. Within each one of them are presented original banknotes folded into vessels which were collected by the artist during several years. These banknotes were the genesis of the
Armada
series of drawings.
Similarly to the
Armada
sculpture series, paper vessels are reflected in mirrors with each face engraved on the hull of the paper boat facing its own reflection. Mirrors and figures multiply, suggesting money accumulation while acting as a counterpoint to the isolation associated with a banking desk.
